What we collect, and why
Last updated October 28, 2026.
SnackSEO runs this site. Here's what it collects when you use it, why, how long it's kept and who helps us process it. How to reach us is at the end.
When you check a business
You give the business's name, and its website, kind of business and town come from its Google listing (or you type them). To build the report we:
- ask AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok and Muse by Meta) the questions customers ask about businesses like it, with live web search results, and keep their answers with the report;
- read the business's home page, robots.txt and sitemap with our checker (see AEORankCheck) and have Google test the site's speed;
- look up where the business and its competitors show on Google, their websites and photos, and how often people search for what it does.
This is information about the business, not about you. You don't need an account or an email address to see a report.
Figures you enter in a report
If you change the money figures (like your close rate or what a customer is worth), they're saved for the business, so its later reports start from them.
Reports aren't secret
A report's link is made from the business's name and the day it was checked (like /report/acme-plumbing/2026-10-28), so anyone can guess it and open the report, including any figures entered in it. A shared link shows the business's name and result in its preview. Reports are kept out of search engines, but don't enter anything in one that you wouldn't want others to see.
If you ask for the report
We keep your email address, and your name, phone number and message if you give them, with the business and report they're about. We use them to send you the report (with the PDF when you give a phone number), and SnackSEO may email or call you about the report and how to improve your results. We never sell or rent your details, and we don't send them to the AI assistants.
Usage data
We record what happens on the site, such as “report viewed” or “check started”, with a random visit ID from your browser tab, the report it's about, and how the visit arrived: the campaign tags in the link (like utm_source) or the name of the site that linked here, never its page. These records hold no names, email addresses or IP addresses. Your IP address is only held in memory, for up to a day, to limit how often one connection can start checks. To stop the form flooding anyone's inbox, a scrambled fingerprint of each address it emails is kept to count the emails it gets each day.
Cookies and what your browser keeps
- av_own, for 7 days after you start a check: lets this browser change that report's figures and have it emailed. It holds the check's ID and a signature, nothing about you.
- av_kiosk, on our event iPad only (a year): marks it as the event device.
- av_admin, on our team's own browsers only (a year): opens the team page and keeps their visits out of our numbers.
- In your browser only: this tab's visit ID and how it arrived (sent with its events, checks and report requests), the market you last picked (local or nationwide), and the area of the last business you picked, so nearby businesses are suggested first.
There are no advertising cookies, and no third-party analytics or tracking.
Who helps us
Each of these gets only what it needs for its part:
- OpenRouter, and through it OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI and Meta, with a web search service: the questions about the business, for the AI answers.
- Google: finding the business and its competitors (Google Places), the website speed test (PageSpeed Insights) and the businesses' logos.
- DataForSEO: Google rankings, search volumes and website traffic estimates.
- Resend: delivering report emails (your email address, your name if you gave it, and the report).
- Hetzner: the servers where all of the above is stored.
- If we use one, our customer-relationship tool: the details you send, for following up.
How long we keep it
- Reports and their checks: as long as the site runs, so their links keep working, unless the business asks us to remove one.
- Your contact details: until you ask us to delete them, or we no longer need them to follow up.
- Usage data: as long as it helps us compare how the site does over time.
- Backups of all of this: up to two weeks.
Your choices
Write to us to see, correct or delete your details, to stop hearing from us, or to have a report about your business removed. We don't track you across other sites or sell or share personal information for advertising, so browser signals like Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control have nothing to switch off; the site works the same either way.
The site is for businesses and isn't meant for children under 13; we don't knowingly collect their information.
When this page changes, its date above changes too.
